Studies show that nearly 50% of the students who do not pass their school vision screening do not have the needed follow up care of a comprehensive eye exam by an optometrist or ophthalmologist. These children are at a significant disadvantage when it comes to learning and succeeding in school.
The Ohio Optometric Foundation has developed the In School Eye Exam program, known as iSee, to bridge that gap by bringing the eye examinations and eyewear directly to the students. The iSee program is completely benevolent, with all services, equipment, and custom eyewear being generously donated. To date, the program has provided eye care and eyewear to over 1,100 students and has educated these students to the importance of a lifetime of comprehensive eye care.
