Governor DeWine Highlights iSee Ohio’s Vision Care Impact
On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Governor Mike DeWine visited an iSee Ohio clinic at Prairie Lincoln Elementary School in Southwestern City Schools, as part of his tour of OhioSEE funded programs. iSee Ohio is one of three organizations that received funding to ensure that children who have failed school-based vision screenings but are not currently under the care of a doctor, receive comprehensive eye exams.
Dr. Natalie Nguyen, owner of Eye Co in Grandview, OH, provided eye exams, while her staff assisted with pre-testing and glasses selection. During the past two school years, Dr. Nguyen has volunteered to run a dozen iSee Ohio clinics throughout Franklin County.
The event included both the provision of exams and dispensing of glasses from a clinic held at the same school at the beginning of February. Fourteen students received exams while nine students were fitted with new prescription glasses. This event allowed iSee Ohio to showcase the work that optometrists have been doing around the state for nearly 20 years. Dr. Shane Foster, President of iSee Ohio and owner of Athens Eye Care, delivered remarks, along with Governor DeWine, Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, Director of the Ohio Department of Health, SWCSD Superintendent, Randy Banks, Prairie Lincoln Principal, Blair Mallott and school nurse, Kara Polichetti.
Ohio Optometric Association President, Dr. San-San Cooley, as well as iSee Ohio Board members, Dr. Tracey Needham and Dr. Mike Earley, also attended and spoke with the media.
