Dr. Elizabeth Muckley Begins as OOA Executive Director

The Ohio Optometric Association is pleased to welcome Dr. Elizabeth Muckley as its new CEO andElizabeth Muckley headshot Executive Director. Dr. Muckley is a member and Past President of the association. Her longtime commitment and leadership within organized optometry combined with her professional background and passion make her the ideal leader for this era of the organization. 

Her qualifications for the Executive Director position center around her involvement and expertise in the optometric world. Dr Muckley was the Director of Optometric Services at Northeast Eye Surgeons. She served as president of the OOA in 2020 and was instrumental in guiding the profession through the pandemic. She is currently a member of the AOA Research Committee and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr Muckley is a member of the International Glaucoma Society and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Practice at The Ohio State College of Optometry. She has helped pass optometric-centered legislation for three Ohio laws including the profession’s last scope expansion bill in 2008.               

Dr. Muckley’s expertise and background knowledge of the profession and of the OOA will allow our association to continue its track record of accomplishing great things. Upon acceptance of the position, Dr. Muckley said, “I am excited to build upon the solid foundation that both Rick Cornett and Keith Kerns have put in place over their tenure at the OOA. As we embark on this new chapter together, we have a wonderful opportunity ahead of us to modernize the profession and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of it. I look forward to working with the talented staff and OOA Board of Directors.”
