Realeyes Program Overview
Founded in 1902, the Ohio Optometric Association (OOA) is the leading professional association for Ohio’s doctors of optometry representing approximately 70% of optometrists in the state. Committed to excellence in eye care, the OOA advocates for the advancement of optometry for its patients and members. The OOA is a trusted resource for public health information on vision and eye health. Mission Statement: The Ohio Optometric Association serves its members and their patients by advocating for the profession to the public and policymakers, promoting the importance of and access to comprehensive eye care, and providing meaningful resources that strengthen professional viability.
We extend an invitation to any Ohio optometrist to become a member of the Ohio Optometric Association (OOA). Members of organized optometry are eligible for numerous benefits and resources that contribute to your personal, professional, and economic objectives. From access to professional staff at the OOA and the American Optometric Association, to camaraderie at the local level, your optometric associations are a vital resource for eye and vision healthcare professionals throughout Ohio.
The Realeyes Program is an education program created by the Ohio Optometric Association through a grant from the Ohio Department of Health Save Our Sight Fund. Realeyes Education consists of six standardized, interactive, age-appropriate curricula that are presented by volunteer optometrists in the community. Topics covered include eye anatomy, eye safety and eye disorders.
The Ohio Optometric Association seeks to provide the public with helpful resources regarding comprehensive eye care. General questions can be directed to info@ooa.org.
